I have a confession to make: I am obsessed with sewing. I sew for a living. I come home and sew clothes for myself and my kids. Quilts for my friend’s babies. Hem my husband’s pants. Make ornaments at Christmas. Stitch cards at Valentine’s day. I make shower curtains to redecorate the bathroom. Pillows for the couch. Travel bags for cosmetics. I even have a Christmas stocking stashed in my sock drawer so my husband doesn’t know I’ve started another one. I am addicted.
I love the feeling of finishing a product. The promise of a what a new stack of fabric could be (so many promises unfulfilled in the back of my closet). The satisfaction of making something instead of buying it. My career happens to be my hobby. My hobby is my life. And I love it.
Welcome to the blog of the Brooklyn Pattern Company. Here you will find a combination of musings. Inspiration for our patterns, a look back at vintage kids clothes, tutorials, projects I’ve been working on and most importantly updates and features of our new patterns as they arrive.
These first few months will be a work in progress as we find our footing so please check back often. See what we’re interested in and where Brooklyn Pattern Company is going. If you like what you read, leave a comment. We’d love to know what we’re doing right. If you’re less than inspired, send us an email (we’re still sensitive).
